About the Character Center

The Character Center is an academic-based after school program located at 129 Century Park Drive in Tallahassee, Florida designed to help children (K through 8th grades) catch up, keep up, and get ahead in school...in spite of their learning challenges.

Our holistic approach to teaching and tutoring children is unparalleled in education. At The Character Center, it's not just about your child learning well, it's about your child "living right." At The Character Center, we assist and support you in the personal, educational, physical, social, and spiritual development of your child.

In addition to all of the traditional services (tutoring and homework assistance) you would expect from a reputable after-school program, we go the extra mile by providing you with services most programs don't offer or won't provide.

For instance, we provide classroom shadowing (personal visitations) through our "I-Shadow Program ^(TM)" to accommodate the busy (and often single) parent who can't be in two places at once. We also provide parent coaching sessions to show you effective ways to better connect with your child. We provide educational recreational activities to enhance and reinforce learning. We conduct test evaluations, FCAT preparation, career exploration, personalized instruction, healthy snacks, health and wellness education, and much more.

The most important service we provide for your children is a positive example. You can't expect children to "be it" if they never "see it." And the men (read bios) behind The Character Center are living examples of the mission of the center. Both products of single mothers, labeled academically-challenged and "at-risk," they know what it is to "beat the odds" and succeed (in spite of the system).

They are now considered two of the most well-respected child advocates and leaders in the educational community and are responsible for training, teaching, and supporting thousands of teachers, students, and parents across America each year.
